The Iron Heart Mountain Jacket is the sibling to the Mountain Parka and essentially a chopped version with no hood for those who prefer something shorter and slightly less bulky. This IHJ-92-BLK in Black uses Primaloft Gold and eVent fabric, which provides insulation and waterproofing with breathability. Fully insulated with 100% nylon lining and a ribbed cuff at the end of the sleeves will help keep your body warm while stopping the wind. In contrast with the Mountain Parka, the Mountain Jacketdoes have a double-entry pocket at the waist (2 pockets in one; entry from the side, plus entry through the velcro/snap from the top).
This mountain jacket is well-suited for freezing temperatures with some light-to-medium layering underneath, and likely can take you down further if you thermalize your inner layers. This jacket should serve those well who tend to run cold during the winter months and need a solid layer to block the winds. The breathability of the eVent fabric helps extend the versatility to when things aren't so cold and are a cool 35-40 degrees Fahrenheit.
Note: These generally run closer to TTS or even a tad large, so we recommend most folks take their typical American brand tops size (rather than sizing up like you might do in Iron Heart shirts/flannels). You can also consider sizing down from your typical American brand tops size if you are on the smaller end of your size, prefer a snug fit for a parka, or do not plan to significantly layer.
Measurement Note: Due to the raglan sleeve construction, the sleeve measurement is measured from the seam where the neck meets the shoulder. To obtain a similar measurement on your jacket, measure from the neck seam and go along the shoulders, down to the sleeve opening.
Model: 6'0'' and 175 lbs. wearing size M (his TTS) for a fit that is neither too slim, nor too relaxed, and able to layer a flannel underneath. Model can also wear size S (one down from his typical American size) for a slim/snug fit that sits much closer to his body. If model was only planning to wear with a t-shirt or a thin sweatshirt, he would go with size S. However, since model would like to wear with additional layers and not feel as constricted, model prefers size M (with a henley and flannel underneath, bending elbows is just a little snug in the arms, but not super tight).
