Merz b. Schwanen's 1940s Ink Blue Tee is a relaxed version of their iconic 1950s tee, still made out of the same 100% pure organic cotton in an easygoing 1-thread lightweight fabric. This shirt features a wider crew neckline and a triangle insert under the armpit for maximum comfort. Made on original loopwheelers in Germany-one of two remaining loopwheeler operations in the world, the result is a seamless tubular fabric that will be your most comfortable tee.
Note: These 1940s tee are more relaxed and thus run closer to TTS. However, we still recommend sizing up to account for shrinkage. Cold wash, hang dry. Length and sleeve will shrink approximately 2" after wash. Other measurements will have about 1" shrinkage after wash, but will stretch back out to original size upon wear. For additional information on sizing and shrinkage, see our blog post here. For fit comparison between 1940s, 215, and 2s14, see our post here.
Model: 6'0'' and 175 lbs. wearing size 6 | L (one size up from his regular TTS, M) for a relaxed fit. After wash, the tee will tighten up a little. For an undershirt, model prefers wearing the 1950s tee. For a more roomy/relaxed fit, the 1940s works well.
Measurement Note: Due to the irregularities characteristic of loopwheelers, there will be slight variations within each size. Accordingly, the measurements posted are general targets that we've found to be the average for each size. If you are more particular about the sizing, or know that you need one with a specific measurement within a size, feel free to email us for us to double-check measurements before purchasing. In general, we do not find the irregularities significant enough to impact the size you should wear.
