The Iron Heart Primaloft Mountain Parka is a formidable technical outer piece that rivals any of the mainstream outerwear companies out there. New for this season, this perennial jacket is back but with a revised pocket design to increase functionality by adding a dual-entry waist pocket for easier use as a hand-warmer. This blacked out jacket features Primaloft Gold and eVent fabric, which provides insulation and waterproofing with breathability. Fully insulated with 100% nylon lining and a ribbed cuff at the end of the sleeves will help keep your body warm while stopping the wind. These can be adjusted in the hood and at the waist using the elastic draw cord for a custom fit.
This mountain parka is well-suited for freezing temperatures with some light-to-medium layering underneath, and likely can take you down further if you thermalize your inner layers. This jacket should serve those well who tend to run cold during the winter months and need a solid layer to block the winds. The breathability of the eVent fabric helps extend the versatility to when things aren't freezing cold, and allows the jacket to function well even in slightly above freezing weather.
Note: These generally run a tad large, so those who are slimmer and/or on the smaller end of their size, can probably take their typical tops size, instead of 1 size up like you might do in Iron Heart flannels. If you have a larger frame or are on the larger end of your size, you can take the same size as your Iron Heart flannels.
Measurement Note: Due to the raglan sleeve construction, the sleeve measurement is measured from the seam where the neck meets the shoulder. To obtain a similar measurement on your jacket, measure from the neck seam and go along the shoulders, down to the sleeve opening.
Model: 6'0'' and 175 lbs (currently closer to 170 lbs) wearing size M (his TTS) for a fit that is neither too slim, nor too relaxed, and able to layer a flannel underneath. Model can also wear L (his typical Iron Heart flannel size) for a more relaxed look and significant layering underneath. Model prefers the size M as it provides enough space for decent layering and fits well everywhere (with a henley and flannel underneath, bending elbows is just a little snug in the arms, but not super tight).
