The Viberg Brown Horsebutt Bobcat Boot comes in a 1035 Last, Dove Tail heel and Natural Leather Sole, and Brogue Cap Toe. Built with the premise of being a sturdy yet classy boot, we think this one strikes the mark. This make-up is unusual in the sense of it being on the Bobcat style, which is originally intended to be more of a work boot.
While the worlds may be colliding at the thought of a leather sole on a work boot, we asked Viberg to make some small changes to hopefully make it less jarring. Smaller eyelets and removing the pull tab were two of these changes, with the brogue cap toe sort of putting a finishing touch on it. We're extremely happy with how these turned out and will be a nice accent mark on the Bobcat style as it comes to a close for us. Take a look at our blog post here.
Sizing: Our experience with the Bobcat Boot is that it runs about 1/4 to 1/2 size larger than Viberg's Service Boot. Accordingly, we recommend almost all folks take the standard 1 size down from Brannock (rather than 1/2 for the few folks who do that); additionally, if your current size 2030 or 1035 Service Boot feels a bit large and you are already 1 down from Brannock, it's possible you could size down another 1/2 for a full 1 and 1/2 down from Brannock (typically if you are C width or smaller); however, we'd venture to say that this is a very small amount of folks who would go 1-1/2 down from Brannock.
