The new Viberg for Withered Fig Brown Waxed Flesh Horsebutt Bobcat is chunky and hard-wearing, built like a tank, but maintains a moderate profile for an all-season utilitarian wear. We wanted a boot that could double as both your work-horse boot, unafraid to get scuffed up, but also one that you can can maintain as a daily driver for your mundane errands (not that you're heading out much these days).
The durable Dr. Sole Raw Cord Sole has been a favorite of ours since we first used it on the Mushroom Chamois RO 145 Oxford. Much more forgiving than some of its other rubber compound counterparts, it has excellent all-weather capabilities with the built-in hemp cord for extra grip and an iconic vintage look. We opted for the Bobcat style for its resemblance to Viberg's work boot line, and also for the utilitarian aspects of it with the leather heel pull tab and full gusseted tongue. An alternate Black Waxed Flesh leather tongue gives the overall look a bit more balance. Shown here with the Railcar Duck Canvas Flight Trousers.
Sizing: Our experience with the Bobcat Boot is that it runs about 1/4 to 1/2 size larger than Viberg's Service Boot. Accordingly, we recommend almost all folks take the standard 1 size down from Brannock (rather than 1/2 for the few folks who do that); additionally, if your current size 2030 or 1035 Service Boot feels a bit large and you are already 1 down from Brannock, it's possible you could size down another 1/2 for a full 1 and 1/2 down from Brannock (typically if you are C width or smaller).
